Circle Reading: where clinical practicality meets build efficiency

It just became clear that  that was the best way to get us all to have a good night’s sleep and now poor Chris is stuck on the couch for the time being.

I was so excited about some of the affordable options I found in some really great pretty fabrics that I could get to replace this one.I really wasn’t into spending $400 on a slipcover for an 8 year old sofa that we may just decide to replace any day now anyway.. That just didn’t quite work out.

I had to give it up after a couple of weeks because it was just looking terrible. If you ask Chris about that time in our life he’ll tell you it was “The worst two weeks of my life.” That may be a little dramatic, but it still wasn’t working for us..Somehow the fact that a new, crisp white slipcover from Ikea is only $100 had escaped me during all this time.

I was under the impression that it was going to be hundreds of dollars.. Silly rabbit!.Nothing spectacular, but it’s fresh and white and clean and didn’t cost an arm and a leg.

Best of all, it’s the same old sofa we know and love and we get to love it for just a little longer now.. Of course, this is how it looks most of the time now:.

I’m not scared of letting the animals on it, but the thick wool blanket protects it from any unnecessary paw prints..Over the past 7 years or so we’ve renovated most of one house, which we sold, and we’ve been through lots of different phases of renovation on this house as well.

The state of unfinishedness has been constant so I’ve picked up a few tricks for keeping my head on straight throughout the process along the way. Here are my thoughts!.

1) Lower your expectations for how much you’re going to get done in a given amount of time. And then lower them again..
